I’m a London
based artist who is currently in my final year at the Slade School of fine Art. I received the Adrian Carruthers Award 22/23 in partnership with ACME and Prankerd Jones Memorial Prize for excellence in Fine Art at the Slade. Currently showing at Xxijra Hii Gallery London, Cosmosis a group show co curated with Yuli Serfaty. Recently showed at London Grads Now, Saatchi Gallery and in collaboration with
fellow Slade artists I produced Bogged Down, a collection of essays and
artwork shown at Dublin Book Art Fair with Temple Gallery.
My current investigations in Animula series, I examin the
geographic entanglement of organisms, people and material at various cave sites
and mines in the UK.
These spaces in flux,
underland, are both precarious and transformational. They are despoiled and
problematic. Excavated materials hold their xtory; rock, steel, clay pulls at a tether to their new forms in the work. In unearthing these materials alongside research of symbiotic organisms, collaborative matter, rysomatic structures found in underground spaces, my work both acknowledges the human effect on
landscape but also shifts the human as centre.
Pulling the space, the
timeline, the organism into focus, muddies the water. I navigate in-between spaces, creating work that questions
the beginnings and ending of material contamination and our relationship to both the strata
and the horizon.
